Minister of State, Aviation , Senator Hadi Sirika and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Tuesday confirmed that no Nigerian airline has the controversial Boeing 737 MAX 8 currently in its fleet. This is just as both assured the Nigeria air travellers of the safety standard of all Nigerian airlines.

Losses from Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft operated by Ethiopian Airlines have been speculated to be between 50 million dollars and 60 million dollars, Willis Towers Watson (WTW) said.

Akwa Ibom State government two weeks ago officially launched the state’s airline , named Ibom Air. This has made the state to be the first to launch a commercial airline. Aviation stakeholders have reacted to the inability of the federal government to   attract investors who are willing to put their money in   Arik Air and Aero Contractors airlines two years after they came under the receivership of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria , AMCON.   Arik Air has not had any interested investor, while Aero Contractors was said to have had investors already streamlined to three for negotiations with the management.
