The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the restriction on human and vehicular movements in two local government areas in Anambra during Saturday’s supplementary governorship election.

The mass media have been described as the Fourth Estate of the Realm in a democratic society. This is because of its importance in educating, informing and enlightening the populace about the goings on in the other three arms – Legislature, Executive and Judiciary.

SEEING Chief Willie Obiano, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the November 16, 2013 governorship election on Sunday, November 17, 2013 when Professor James Epoke, the state returning officer in the election declared the election inconclusive, and last Wednesday when he joined some South-East and South-South governors in a group photograph after their meeting in Awka, it was obvious that he is already looking beyond tomorrow’s supplementary polls.

BARELY four hours after explaining her reasons for dragging the governorship candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Willie Obiano to the Federal High Court over alleged double registration, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, who came second at the party’s primaries said she has withdrawn the suit following pressures from many quarters.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday wrote Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega, to forget about tomorrow’s supplementary elections in Anambra State’s governorship poll and restated its call for outright cancellation.
