Hollywood has started tapping into Nollywood’s global popularity. Earlier this year, “Close Enemies,” the first crossover film, was produced in LA by Prince Ade Bamiro using major Nollywood stars. It was made for $300,000 — about 10 times the average Nollywood budget — and was screened in the Nigerian Pavilion at Cannes.

The search begins July 18th to last till August 7th and the man or woman who finds the treasure would exchange it on August 7th for N7million, an SUV worth about N10million and another N500, 000 wardrobe allowance. All the other contestants also have a chance to win prizes with the least or tenth placed contestant expected to go home with N450, 000.

BOTY ‘09 competition began with regional finals in Benin, Jos and Lagos several weeks ago. Nine groups made it through and joined last year’s winners ‘All Stars’, to slug it out for this year’s national finals. After the Show rounds, four made it to the semi final knock out stage.

The criteria for admittance is wearing a Michael Jackson monogrammed T-shirt which can be purchased at the venue of the show.

Comedian Basket mouth ensured there wasn’t a dull moment as he ingeniously filled in all the breaks between each star performance. Glo recharge cards were given out for free to a few lucky people.
