The Northern Elders Forum, NEF, yesterday replied to the leader of the Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, over statements credited to him that failure to vote for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, would end Nigeria, saying elections are not won by threats.

The Federal Government has ordered all universities in the country to go on break from February 22 to March 14 to enable students to participate in the general elections starting in two weeks’ time.

The government’s order was contained in a circular signed by the Deputy Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, NUC, Dr Chris Mayaki, and sent to all vice-chancellors and directors/chief executives of inter-university centres.

A spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential Campaign Council Daniel Bwala said the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi is not revolutionary enough to threaten PDP’s chances of winning in the 2023 elections. 

“So just following a Governor being a cameraman (Jandor) and then watching me for eight years then you think you will now be a governor, you are not ready, come to our leadership school, you are not yet ready.”

“Nigerian youths are ready. It is a critical time. We haven’t gotten the needed satisfaction from the government. Before now, Nigerian youths were lackadaisical and cajoled to believe our votes didn’t count. But in 2023, the narrative will change.”
