REA targets 3.7GW solar manufacturing to bridge 80m electricity access gap

The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) on Thursday said it plans to establish 3.7 gigawatts (GW) of local solar photovoltaic (PV) panel manufacturing capacity by the end of 2027 as part of efforts to reduce Nigeria's dependence on imports and accelerate electricity access for more than 80 million Nigerians without reliable power.
