The Benue  House of Assembly has passed a bill to establish the Benue State Widows Commission, aimed at prohibiting harmful cultural practices against widows.

The assailants struck on Sunday in a village lying in the Tillaberi region, located in the so-called tri-border area — a flashpoint zone where the frontiers of Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali converge.

The judgment followed a suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1907/25, which was lodged before the court by 17 candidates of the ADC.

US lawmaker, Rep Riley Moore, has condemned the abduction of over 100 Christian worshippers in Kaduna State, describing it as horrific news.

A human rights organisation, Christian Solidarity Worldwide–Nigeria (CSW-N), has insisted that more than 100 worshippers were abducted by suspected bandits during coordinated attacks on churches in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, despite official denials by security agencies and local authorities.

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has raised alarm over reports that about 172 worshippers were abducted from churches in Kaduna State over the weekend, describing the situation as unacceptable and calling for urgent action to end insecurity in the country.
