NDC candidate promises higher institution for Bomadi

Opuofoni lists youth, women’s capacity building among priorities

BOMADI — The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Bomadi Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Jerry Agbalakoko Opuofoni, has promised to pursue the establishment of a higher institution in Bomadi if elected in the 2027 general elections.

Opuofoni also pledged to prioritise youth and women’s empowerment through capacity-building initiatives, saying the constituency needed improved infrastructure and better access to essential services.

He made the commitments on Tuesday amid preparations by the party for the 2027 elections, describing the NDC as a party focused on grassroots development.

The candidate said his decision to contest the constituency seat was driven by what he described as inadequate infrastructure and limited development opportunities in Bomadi.

“The reason behind my decision to run for the Bomadi Constituency’s seat in the State Assembly is that the constituency is falling behind in all essential aspects of life, and I aim to change this narrative,” he said.

He listed inadequate healthcare facilities, poor roads, unreliable electricity and the absence of a higher educational institution among the challenges facing the constituency.

Opuofoni also expressed concern about the living conditions of residents, arguing that more needed to be done to improve their welfare despite the efforts of previous political representatives.

“In my own investigation, and I am open to correction, it appears that Bomadi Constituency is the poorest in Delta State. We have a long journey ahead, and Bomadi Constituency deserves far better than its current lamentable condition,” he said.

He appealed to constituents to support his aspiration, promising to represent their interests and pursue legislative initiatives aimed at improving their living conditions.

He reiterated that establishing a higher institution and providing capacity-building opportunities for young people and women would be among his priorities if elected to the state legislature.
