Agoro urges LSDPC staff to uphold integrity, professionalism, commitment

By Kingsley Adegboye

The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, has urged staff of the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC) to demonstrate dedication, professionalism, integrity and commitment to improve service delivery.

Agoro gave the charge on Wednesday at the unveiling of the newly renovated Block A building at the corporation’s premises, where he said an improved working environment must be matched by excellence and accountability among public servants.

“A modern office can provide the right environment, but it is the dedication, professionalism, integrity and commitment of the people working within it that ultimately determine the quality of service delivered,” he said.

He urged staff to use the renovated offices as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration, improve productivity and contribute meaningfully to the development of Lagos State.

“Let these renovated offices inspire a renewed commitment to excellence. Let them encourage greater collaboration among departments. Let them remind us that every responsibility entrusted to us is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of Lagos State,” Agoro said.

He added that public servants must uphold professionalism, integrity, diligence, accountability and service to the people.

The Head of Service said the Lagos State Government remained committed to building a public service that was professional, efficient, responsive and people-centred, noting that providing a conducive working environment was an important part of achieving the objective.

According to him, the renovation was more than the physical improvement of a building, as it represented an investment in the staff and the quality of service expected from them.

“It is therefore important that our public institutions operate from environments that are safe, functional, conducive and capable of supporting the people who work in them,” he said.

Agoro noted that the LSDPC played an important role in the development of Lagos State through its responsibilities in property development, housing and the management of government real estate assets.

He said the corporation’s mandate had become increasingly significant as Lagos continued to grow and respond to the changing needs of residents and businesses.

While commending the corporation for renovating Block A, he stressed that people remained the most valuable resource of any organisation.

Earlier, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LSDPC, Ayodeji Joseph, said the renovation reflected the corporation’s commitment to maintaining high operational standards and providing a workplace that supported efficiency and professionalism.

Joseph said the corporation recognised that a conducive work environment was essential to encouraging staff productivity, promoting teamwork and strengthening its capacity to meet the expectations of the Lagos State Government and residents.

He explained that the renovation was undertaken in recognition of the importance of the corporation’s workforce to the delivery of its mandate.

The LSDPC chief executive also noted that the old Block A building had, over the years, accommodated prominent occupants, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Hon. Babajimi Benson.

Joseph expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government, under Sanwo-Olu’s leadership, for its continued efforts to strengthen public institutions and improve the capacity of the public service.

He, however, reminded management and staff that the renovated facility came with a responsibility to maintain the building and its installations.

“As we begin to utilise this improved facility, I encourage everyone to take ownership of the building, maintain its facilities diligently and ensure that our conduct and work reflect the investment made in this environment,” he said.

Joseph urged staff to demonstrate greater dedication, professionalism and collaboration to ensure the corporation continued to deliver on its responsibilities to the state.
