Telecom firm secures three international quality certifications

MOYTEL Consultants Limited has secured three International Organisation for Standardization, ISO, certifications: ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, reaffirming the company’s commitment to quality management, environmental standards, occupational health and safety, and improved service delivery across Nigeria’s telecommunications value chain.

The certifications were officially presented to the company at a ceremony attended by members of its management and technical teams, as well as certification consultants from DU&T.

Addressing newsmen in Lagos, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of MOYTEL Consultants Limited, Mr Nnamdi Igwiloh, said: “The achievement of these quality certifications is an embodiment of what we stand for. We have always striven to achieve excellence and professionalism in everything that we do. This encapsulates what we have been all about. For us, it goes to further incentivise our clients that not only do we talk the talk, but we walk the walk.

“Our attention to quality and excellence isn’t just because we’ve gotten certification; it started from the inception of this company. It’s what we do on a daily basis, and everybody in this organisation knows what we stand for. Hopefully, this is just one feather in our cap, but I’m hoping it’s going to keep us on our toes even more to be able to achieve more of what we already stand for.

“We just created a dedicated Quality Department. That department has been tasked with ensuring that we are focused on quality and compliance in everything that we do, be it those in the field, the implementation team, or the project managers. Every stage of what we do has to be in compliance with our stated objectives, regulatory expectations, and global best practices. It is fully staffed with people who understand the process and are able to audit it to ensure all we’re doing is correct.”

Also speaking, Head of Business Operations, Samuel Udoh, described the triple certification as a deliberate milestone rather than an accidental achievement, saying quality remained non-negotiable in a strictly regulated industry overseen by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC.

Udoh said: “Quality is a key aspect of this operation. For us as players in this industry, we have gone above and beyond what is expected from a global standard standpoint. Pursuing ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 was a deliberate choice tied to our objective of delivering projects on time, within scope, and within budget.

“Without quality, our level of efficiency drops, and we end up spending more money on rework. We adopt a proactive mentality, much like driving in Lagos, where you must anticipate other road users, to nip defects in the bud.”

Meanwhile, Service Delivery Manager, Olawale Ojo, said the certifications had reinforced the company’s commitment to workplace safety and standardised procedures.

Ojo said: “People are used to working a certain way. ISO requires you to ‘say what you do and document it.’ We overcame this initial friction through continuous awareness.

“ISO is not just for office staff. In our operations, field workers have the explicit right to say ‘no’ and reject tasks where safety is compromised, such as climbing towers during heavy rainfall, without fear of penalty. Our MD/CEO acts as the chief safety officer, ensuring resources and authority are backed up from the very top.”

Management Consultant, John Aderibigbe, said the future of ISO consulting was not about creating documents for organisations but about building their capabilities.

Aderibigbe said: “Our role is to help businesses understand the standards, own their systems and turn internationally recognised requirements into measurable business value.”
