More than 250 young professionals, recruiters and industry leaders converged in Lagos for the second edition of the Hunter to Hunted Conference, where speakers challenged professionals to move beyond job hunting and deliberately position themselves for opportunities.
The conference organized by Inkers Hub, sought to address one of the most persistent challenges facing professionals in today’s job market; the struggle to move beyond constantly searching for opportunities to becoming visible and strategically positioned for them.
The theme, “The Bull’s Horn,” drew on the symbolism of confronting a charging bull rather than running from it. Organisers likened the bull to the pressures of today’s career landscape, including rejection, uncertainty, limited opportunities and the struggle to gain visibility despite possessing relevant skills. The conference therefore challenged participants to confront these realities by developing not only relevant skills but also the positioning, visibility and strategic thinking required to attract opportunities.
A key message from keynote speaker Emmanuel Michael, Director of Human Resources at EkoHotels & Suites and founder of #HRwithEM, was that professional competence must be matched with the systems and processes that make talent globally competitive.
“Being skilled does not just make you globally qualified; there are systems and processes that position you for global opportunities,” Michael said.
Sessions at the conference also explored how professionals can better communicate their value, build credible personal brands, understand the hiring process and convert their skills into opportunities.
The event featured other industry professionals like Queen Nwaguru, Emmanuel Nduka, Dr. Jumoke Aleoke-Malachi, Ifeoluwa Ojo, Rowland Ogbonda, Ibukun Akinkuotu, Success Erinleand Anita Nwosu.
According to Inkers Hub, the Hunter to Hunted initiative emerged from observing talented professionals repeatedly applying for jobs, facing rejection and struggling to gain visibility despite their potential. The event was consequently designed to connect founders, recruiters and professionals in one room as a solution to these problems.
Speaking on the philosophy behind the initiative, the convener, Fortune Nwosu, stated that: “Fortune favours the bold.”
The statement reinforced the conference’s key message that professionals must deliberately build their visibility, prove their value and position themselves strategically to remain competitive in today’s marketplace.
The conference also featured recruiter networking sessions, portfolio pitches and CV support, extending the programs impact beyond conventional conference discussions and providing participants with practical opportunities to engage with the employment ecosystem.
Rather than presenting career success as a product of endless applications, Hunter to Hunted 2026 emphasised preparation, visibility, strategic networking and a better understanding of how the employment system works.
