NALGON Emeritus appoints Rep Nicholas Mutu BOT secretary

The National Working Committee, NWC, of the National Association of Former Elected Local Government Council Chairmen of Nigeria, NALGON Emeritus, has appointed member of the House of Representatives, representing Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency of Delta state, 
Rt. Hon. Nicholas Mutu, as the new Secretary of its Board of Trustees, BOT.

The appointment was disclosed by the National Publicity Secretary of the organisation, Ahj. Yahaya Adamu, in a statement issued at the weekend.

According to Adamu, the appointment of Mutu was unanimously endorsed at the National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of NALGON Emeritus held on August 21, 2026.

He said the decision was reached by the National Working Committee under the leadership of the National Chairman, Rt. Hon. Shaba Ibrahim, in consultation with the BOT Chairman, Senator George Akume, National Patron, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, and other members of the Board of Trustees.

Adamu described Mutu as “a well-respected personality in Nigeria whose track record is not hidden,” adding that “he is one of the longest-serving members of the National Assembly.”

Presenting the certificate of appointment to Mutu during an official visit, the National Chairman of NALGON Emeritus, Shaba Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to him for accepting to serve in the organisation.

Ibrahim said Mutu’s experience, long legislative career, and commitment would contribute to the efforts of the organisation, particularly as it works with the leadership of the Board of Trustees to advance its objectives.

He urged the newly appointed BOT Secretary to work closely with the BOT Chairman, Senator George Akume, and the National Patron, Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, in strengthening the organisation.

Ibrahim said, “we appreciate Hon. Mutu for accepting to serve alongside the BOT Chairman, Senator George Akume, and Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, to ensure that we have a new Nigeria of our dream.”

The NALGON Emeritus chairman said the appointment was a demonstration of confidence in Mutu’s capacity, experience and ability to contribute meaningfully to the organisation.

The official presentation of the certificate was witnessed by members of the National Working Committee, including the National Secretary, Chief Osita Ogene; National Treasurer, Hon. Isaac Mtom; Chief Benjamin Ogbalor; National Welfare Officer, Mrs Joyce Chianson; and Deputy National Organising Secretary, Barr. Febian Ogbeche.

Responding, the newly appointed Secretary of the Board of Trustees, Mutu, expressed appreciation to the National Working Committee for finding him worthy of the responsibility.

He pledged to deploy his experience to the service of NALGON Emeritus and work in the overall interest of the organisation.

“I appreciate the National Working Committee of NALGON Emeritus for finding me worthy to serve as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees. I assure you that I will do my best and work in the interest of NALGON Emeritus,” Mutu said.

He also called on members of the National Working Committee and supporters of the organisation to continue praying for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging them to support the administration to continue with its development agenda come 2027.
