Developer targets housing demand with Mowe project

Baker Homes has launched a 10-acre residential development in Mowe, Ogun State, offering plots to Nigerians seeking land on which to build homes amid the country’s housing deficit.

The company said it recognised that the price of land was only part of the cost of owning a home. Prospective buyers also needed to consider the property’s title, any additional charges and the cost of construction before making a decision.

The development, Mint Court Phase 2, is located along the Papalanto Expressway in Obafemi Owode. According to Baker Homes, 300-square-metre plots are available at an introductory price of ₦8 million until October 14. The minimum entry price will rise to ₦10 million after that date.

The company described the site as dry land covered by a Global Certificate of Occupancy. It said the advertised price includes all charges and that buyers will receive plot allocations upon completing payment.

Speaking at the launch, the Supervising Manager and Head of Projects and Development at Baker Industries Limited, Dr Olusegun Osundina, said the project would give more people an opportunity to acquire property in the Mowe corridor.

“Mint Court Phase 2 represents another important step in our commitment to creating real estate opportunities that combine location, proper documentation and value,” he said.

“The success of Phase 1 demonstrated the demand for well-positioned property in this corridor, and with Phase 2, we are giving more people the opportunity to participate from an earlier stage.”

Baker Homes said it launched the first phase in 2022 and sold out its plots in 2025. Osundina said the company wanted buyers to have clear information before making a purchase.

“We remain focused on building trust through transparency, proper documentation and a customer experience that extends beyond the point of purchase,” he said.

Nollywood actor Jide Awobona, who was unveiled as a brand partner at the launch, said he would use the partnership to help prospective buyers understand the development.

“What I find important about this partnership is the emphasis Baker Homes places on transparency, proper documentation and helping people understand what they are buying,” he said.

The project makes more residential plots available in the area. Buyers will still need to fund construction after acquiring the land.
