Emerging Nigerian artiste, Isaac Odey Oloko, popularly known as Cityboy, has set a five-year target to win a Grammy Award as he works to establish himself on the international music scene.
Cityboy, who operates in the Afro Dancehall genre, said he intends to take his music beyond Nigeria and reach audiences across Africa and other parts of the world.
Speaking on his career ambitions, the artiste said the Grammy goal reflects his desire to compete at the highest level of the global music industry and contribute to the growing international visibility of African music.
He said achieving the target would require discipline, consistency, creativity and continued development of his craft.
Cityboy’s sound combines African musical elements with contemporary dancehall influences, which he said allows him to explore storytelling and emotional expression while appealing to a wider audience.
The artiste also credited his mentor, Engineer Cosmas Ekawu, with playing an important role in his development. He described Ekawu as a father figure, adviser and guide, saying his mentorship and support had helped shape his approach to music and his career ambitions.
Cityboy is currently promoting his latest single, “Despair,” as he continues efforts to expand his audience and establish his sound.
He remains focused on building a sustainable music career through originality, consistency and hard work, with international recognition among his long-term goals.
