DAMATURU — The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Yobe State has called for unity among its members and supporters as it begins consultations with traditional rulers ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC State Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, made the call during consultations led by the party’s governorship candidate, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, with traditional rulers across the state.

Gadaka urged APC members and supporters to remain united and work for the victory of President Bola Tinubu, Wali and other candidates of the party in the 2027 elections.

He said the delegation was visiting traditional rulers to seek their blessings, prayers, advice and support ahead of the elections.

The consultations have so far taken Wali and his delegation to 13 of Yobe’s 14 recognised emirates. The visit to Fika Emirate was postponed because the Emir is currently out of the country.

Gadaka said seeking the blessings and guidance of traditional rulers before approaching their subjects for electoral support was part of the party’s tradition.

Wali said the consultations were not only about his governorship ambition but also aimed at seeking support for President Tinubu, Governor Mai Mala Buni and other APC candidates.

He pledged to pursue continuity and consolidation by building on the development initiatives of the Buni and former Governor Ibrahim Geidam administrations if elected.

During the consultations, Wali received traditional honours in some emirates, including the titles of Sardaunan Jajere Emirate and Zanna Kaloma of Potiskum, as well as traditional gifts.

At Gudi Emirate, the Emir, Alhaji Ismaila Ahmed Ibn Maidugu Kahji, said the administrations of Geidam and Buni had contributed significantly to the development of the emirate and expressed support for continuity.

The consultations are expected to continue with the outstanding visit to Fika Emirate after the Emir returns to the country.
