
The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Benue State, H.E. Dr Raymond Edoh, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the Osun State governorship election.
Dr Edoh described the victory as a testament to the power of democracy and the will of the people, stressing that the outcome further demonstrated the importance of credible, peaceful and transparent elections in Nigeria.
In a statement issued following the declaration of the result, the NDC Deputy Governorship Candidate commended the people of Osun State for their peaceful participation in the electoral process and urged all stakeholders to support the elected government in the interest of the state.
He particularly expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for providing the political environment and leadership that allowed the people of Osun State to exercise their democratic rights in a free, fair and peaceful election.
According to Dr Edoh, the President’s commitment to democratic principles and respect for the people’s choice is worthy of commendation, noting that democracy can only thrive when citizens are given the freedom to choose their leaders without undue interference.
“I sincerely congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke on this well-deserved victory. I also commend the people of Osun State for coming out peacefully to exercise their democratic rights.
“I particularly appreciate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for allowing a free, fair and peaceful electoral process in Osun State. This is a significant demonstration of confidence in our democratic institutions and the ability of Nigerians to determine who governs them through the ballot box.”
Dr Edoh further congratulated all political parties, candidates, electoral officials, security agencies and other stakeholders who contributed to the peaceful conduct of the election.
He called on Governor Adeleke to see his victory as a renewed mandate to serve all the people of Osun State, irrespective of political affiliation, and to focus on inclusive governance, economic development, youth empowerment, women’s participation and improved welfare of citizens.
The Benue State NDC Deputy Governorship Candidate also urged political actors to embrace sportsmanship and place the unity and development of Nigeria above partisan interests.
He wished Governor Adeleke wisdom, good health and success as he continues to lead the people of Osun State, expressing optimism that the state would witness greater development and prosperity under his administration.
