The Ngwang Ishi Otarok (NIO) Lagos Chapter has inaugurated its newly elected Executive Council, formally transferring the leadership of the association to the new administration.

The inauguration and handing-over ceremony was held at Marine Beach Primary School, Apapa, Lagos, with members of the NIO community in attendance.

In his address, the newly elected Chairman, Dashe Samuel Emmanuel, pledged to provide inclusive and purposeful leadership throughout his tenure.

Emmanuel said his administration would focus on strengthening the association’s institutional capacity, promoting unity among members and supporting development initiatives for the NIO community in Lagos and Otarok communities in Plateau State.

He also expressed his commitment to serving members and working with stakeholders to advance the interests of the association.

Paul Rimfat, a former member of the outgoing Executive Council and former Social Director II of NIO Lagos Chapter, welcomed the new administration and expressed optimism about its direction.

Rimfat highlighted steps taken by the new executives towards improving the association’s financial organisation, including the opening of bank accounts and the commencement of internal financial contributions by members of the executive.

He said such measures could contribute to strengthening the association’s financial base and administrative structure.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Plateau Indigenes Development Association Lagos (PIDAL), led by its Vice President, Solomon Daar.

Daar urged members of the Tarok community in Lagos to remain united and actively participate in community affairs.

He stressed the importance of collective involvement and cooperation in advancing the interests and development of the community.

The newly inaugurated NIO Lagos Chapter Executive Council comprises Dashe Samuel Emmanuel, Chairman, representing Ikeja Branch; Engr. Kotur Nanzing Nelson, Vice Chairman, Navy Town Branch; Joseph Ponfa Alexander, Secretary General, Obalende Branch; and Lohnap Samanja, Assistant Secretary General, Apapa Branch.

Dominic Nanpe of Ojo Branch is the Financial Secretary, while Nanyi Ponzing Simon of Ikeja Mainland serves as Treasurer.

Matthew Sambo Ponfa of Obalende Branch was elected Public Relations Officer I, while Philemon A. Pyendang of Ajah Branch is Public Relations Officer II.

Yilkur Isa Gwakjul of Ikeja Branch serves as Organizing Secretary, while Victoria Babale Nansak of Ikeja Mainland is the Provost.

Naomi Nanbyen Mamvyat of Ikorodu Branch was elected Social Welfare Officer, while Dinfa Lafim Sambo of Lekki Branch serves as Auditor II.

The inauguration marks the beginning of a new administration for NIO Lagos Chapter, with the new leadership expected to focus on unity, accountability, welfare, capacity building and the overall development of members.

The association is also expected to strengthen collaboration among its branches and engage relevant stakeholders on issues affecting the NIO community in Lagos and beyond.
