…Hails Olojede for engaging with students

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his continued commitment to the welfare and development of students across the state, particularly following his latest intervention of providing electronic bikes to student communities across Oyo State.

NANS described the gesture as another practical demonstration of the Governor’s responsiveness to the evolving needs of students and his determination to make student mobility and welfare a priority.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, the National Financial Secretary of NANS, Comrade Alao John Oluwadamilola, described Governor Makinde as a leader whose commitment to students has been demonstrated through a consistent pattern of tangible interventions rather than mere promises.

He noted that the provision of electronic bikes further reinforces the Governor’s position that the growth and development of Oyo State students must remain a priority until the final day of his administration.

Alao recalled that the Governor had previously made history by providing 28 buses to tertiary institutions and student communities across Oyo State, an intervention aimed at addressing transportation challenges confronting students.

He noted that the latest provision of electronic bikes represents a continuation and expansion of that commitment, demonstrating the administration’s willingness to explore new and innovative solutions to challenges affecting the student community.

He further recalled the Governor’s interventions in bursary and scholarship support, educational materials, textbooks, exercise books and broader investment in the education sector, noting that the Oyo State Government has consistently demonstrated a deliberate effort to improve access to education and reduce the burdens confronting students.

The State Government has, among other interventions, distributed millions of exercise books to public secondary school students and implemented various measures aimed at expanding educational access.

“NANS therefore considers today’s electronic-bike intervention not as an isolated gesture, but as another chapter in what the Association regards as Governor Makinde’s sustained investment in the welfare and educational advancement of Oyo State students. The Association commends the Governor for continually responding to the realities of the student community and for recognising that meaningful investment in students is an investment in the future of Oyo State,” he said.

The NANS National Financial Secretary also commended the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Affairs, Hon. Victor Olojede, for his accessibility, responsiveness and continued engagement with student leaders across the state.

He described Olojede as an important bridge between the government and the student community, noting that his role has contributed significantly to ensuring that students’ concerns are communicated and receive appropriate attention.

NANS particularly appreciates Governor Makinde’s reaffirmation that “We will continue to prioritize the growth and development of Oyo State students till the last day of this administration.”

“The Association therefore commends His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and Hon. Victor Olojede for their continued partnership with the student community and urges the administration to sustain this student-centred approach in the remaining period of its tenure.

“NANS remains committed to constructive engagement with the Oyo State Government and other stakeholders towards ensuring that the welfare, educational advancement and overall development of students remain central to the development agenda of the State.”
