MoMo Payment Service Bank, MoMo PSB, the fintech subsidiary of MTN Nigeria, has appointed Bode Abifarin as its Lagos Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2026.
The appointment marks a new phase in the growth of the digital financial services company, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to provide digital financial services, money transfers and bill payments through mobile devices.
Abifarin brings more than 23 years of experience across financial services, consulting, digital payments, fintech, strategy, operations and business transformation.
Before joining MoMo PSB, she served as Chief Operating Officer of Flutterwave, where she played a key role in the company’s expansion into multiple markets and the development of scalable operating models.
During her tenure at Flutterwave, she also strengthened regulatory engagement and supported the delivery of payment solutions aimed at expanding access to financial services across Africa.
She previously spent 15 years with KPMG, rising to Associate Director in Management Consulting, where she advised financial institutions and other organisations across Africa on strategy, transformation, customer experience and business growth.
She later founded Strata Advisory, a technology-focused advisory firm supporting businesses with scaling and sustainable growth.
Speaking on her appointment, Abifarin said she was honoured to join MoMo PSB at a defining period for digital financial services in Nigeria.
“Financial inclusion remains one of the greatest opportunities to unlock economic empowerment and prosperity for millions of people,” she said, adding that she looked forward to working with the company’s team, regulators, partners and other stakeholders to expand access to secure and customer-focused financial solutions.
MTN Group Fintech CEO, Serigne Dioum, described Abifarin as an experienced leader with a strong record of building and scaling financial services businesses.
According to him, her expertise in fintech, innovation, operational transformation and financial inclusion positions her to lead MoMo PSB into its next phase of growth.
The Chairman of the MoMo PSB Board, Michael Ajukwu, also welcomed the appointment, describing Abifarin as an accomplished business leader with extensive experience in payments, digital transformation and stakeholder engagement.
As CEO, Abifarin is expected to focus on expanding MoMo PSB’s digital financial services, deepening financial inclusion, driving innovation and improving customer value.
She has received several recognitions, including inclusion among the Top 100 Women in Global Fintech, the Inspiring 50 Women Shaping the Future of Technology in Africa and the 30 Most Powerful Nigerian Women in Finance.
She also serves on various boards and advisory committees focused on technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and financial services.
Her appointment is expected to strengthen MoMo PSB’s leadership as the company pursues its ambition of expanding digital financial services and building a leading financial services platform for Nigerians.
