— List achievements, knocks Akinyelure on Alade-idanre-owena road

The Progressive Congress Senatorial Candidate for Ondo Central, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, SAN, has said that the reforms being undertaken by President Bola Tinubu’s administration should be viewed as long-term processes designed to produce enduring solutions rather than temporary measures.

Speaking in Akure, Adegbonmire noted that the President is working round the clock to fix the country and put it on the path of greatness.

“Things are being done in phases, but the President is building systems and institutions that will endure.

“For that reason, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves commendation for his courage and commitment,” he said.

He disagreed with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on fuel subsidy removal, saying he did not see Atiku becoming President and that some of his comments showed a misunderstanding of basic economic principles.

The Senator noted that several international financial institutions, including the World Bank, have acknowledged aspects of the economic reforms being implemented by the Federal Government.

He explained that economic recovery requires patience and proper sequencing, stressing that microeconomic fundamentals must stabilize before improvements reflect in macroeconomic indicators.

Adegbonmire highlighted significant investments by the Tinubu administration in infrastructure and human capital.

“These include the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, renewed focus on rail and airport infrastructure, and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND.

He also commended efforts to improve foreign exchange stability, noting that greater predictability would help manufacturers and importers plan better.

He pointed to Nigeria’s FX reserves growing above $50 billion as a sign of improved investor confidence.

On his record in Ondo Central, Adegbonmire said his interventions in the last three years in the 10th National Assembly have focused on education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth development and empowerment.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, he said he played a key role in justice and rule of law issues.

He added that he also chairs the Ad-hoc Committee on the Review of the Electoral Act and serves on the *Constitutional Review Committee.

He listed projects facilitated in the constituency to include educational interventions worth over ₦800 million at Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure; modern classrooms at St. Helens Unity Secondary School, Ondo and Owobamibo, Ofosu in Idanre LGA, and renovation of classrooms at St. Thomas and St. Andrew Primary School, Akure South.

Under his Mega Empowerment Programme, he said thousands of beneficiaries across Ondo Central have received materials and cash support.

In healthcare, he disclosed the renovation and equipping of Basic Health Centres at Ipogun, Ifedore LGA and lfelodun, FUTA North, Akure.

He added that a 20-bed maternity centre will be constructed along Oda Town, while health centres in Igbara-Oke and Ijare have been identified for rehabilitation.

Adegbonmire said he has supported countless students through scholarships and helped many individuals start businesses.

Reacting to allegations by former Senator Patrick Ayo Akinyelure on the Alade-Idanre-Owena Road, Adegbonmire described it as “pure mischief”.

He explained the road was awarded by the Federal Ministry of Works* during Akinyelure’s tenure and was not a constituency project.

“I called him personally to challenge him. He later sent a message that he was not referring to me personally,” Adegbonmire said, challenging Akinyelure to publicly clarify.

“People should ask where he has been since 2024 and 2025. Why is he making these insinuations now, when he wants to contest an election?” he asked.

He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda and called on Nigerians, especially people of Ondo Central, to support President Tinubu, himself and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections for continuity of reforms and projects.
