JALINGO — The World Bank-supported Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) will build an international livestock market in Taraba State as part of efforts to strengthen livestock infrastructure and expand access to international markets.
The Taraba State L-PRES Coordinator, Hananiah Albert, disclosed this during the opening of bids for the project over the weekend.
Albert said the project also includes the construction and equipping of one standard abattoir and two slaughterhouses to improve meat processing and livestock marketing across the state.
He said the projects are designed to enhance livestock infrastructure, promote hygienic meat processing, improve livestock marketing, and strengthen the state’s agricultural economy.
According to him, the procurement process is being conducted in line with the Public Procurement Law and established procedures to ensure transparency, fairness, competitiveness and accountability.
He added that all bids received would be publicly opened and evaluated strictly in accordance with the requirements contained in the bidding documents.
