“Where Did Love Go?”: Tekno drops most romantic album yet

LAGOS — Nigerian Afrobeats star Tekno has released his highly anticipated eight-track album, Where Did Love Go?, a project that explores love, vulnerability, commitment and devotion while showcasing the singer’s signature melodic style.

Released through emPawa Africa, the album follows the success of previously released singles, Bamboo, Press Button and Matter, which have collectively recorded more than 3.1 million streams across digital platforms.

Tekno played a major role in the album’s production, producing four of its eight tracks while collaborating with producers Yung Willis, D’Meek, Justopac and Tino to deliver a blend of Afrobeats, Afropop and dancehall influences.

The project opens with Bamboo, a smooth, groove-driven track that sets the tone for the album, before transitioning into the dancehall-inspired Press Button.

Its emotional centrepiece is Adaeze, where the singer reflects on the uncertainty and frustration of loving someone who has become emotionally distant.

On Matter, Tekno celebrates loyalty, while Port Au Prins expresses a willingness to cross borders in pursuit of love.

The album also features Wedding Day, which focuses on commitment and lifelong partnership, and Gently, an easy-going romantic offering.

It concludes with Avelay, a feel-good track that highlights affection, responsibility and dependability through the recurring phrase, “I dey available.”

Overall, Where Did Love Go? presents romance from multiple perspectives, including desire, uncertainty, devotion, commitment and responsibility, reinforcing Tekno’s reputation for crafting relatable love songs that resonate with audiences beyond the dancefloor. The album is now available on major streaming platforms.
