Amid the ongoing crisis within the Lagos State chapter of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), the union’s Vice Chairman, Mr. Adeola Adeyemo, has withdrawn his earlier inflammatory comments against the Chairman, Alhaji Samsondeen Ajala, and tendered an apology.
In a letter dated July 6, 2026, titled “Unreserved Apology,” Adeyemi said he regretted the uncomplimentary statements he had previously made against Ajala after sober reflection on his actions and remarks.
It will be recalled that Adeyemo had alleged that Ajala and his supporters orchestrated a violent attack on members loyal to the National President, an incident that reportedly left some members injured, with others said to have sustained gunshot wounds.
Part of the letter reads:”I write this letter to convey my deepest and most sincere apology to you for the series of videos and negative statements I made concerning you on social media.
“After soberly reflecting on all the statements I made against you, I find those statements to be defamatory and reprehensible which deeply regret my actions and the pain, embarrassment, and inconvenience my words and publications have caused you, your family, friends, associates, and the Road Transport Employers’ Association Of Nigeria (RTEAN) Lagos Branch.
“I acknowledge that I should have exercised greater restraint and wisdom before making such public statements. I sincerely regret my actions and the negative effects it has caused including strained relations between us.
“I hereby state unequivocally that I shall retract all the statements which contain the fabricated and unfounded allegations I made against you in those videos. I undertake to remove and withdraw every of these publications that I published and to refrain from making or circulating any further statements capable of bringing your name into disrepute.
“I respectfully ask for your forgiveness. It is my earnest desire that this unfortunate incident be put behind us and we pursue a lasting reconciliation move.
“I assure you that I have learned valuable lessons from these experience and will conduct myself more responsibly in the future. I remain committed to maintaining peace, mutual respect, and cordial relations going forward.
Once again, I offer my heartfelt and unreserved apology and respectfully pray that you will find it in your heart to forgive me.”
