TAGRA debunks claim over estate incident

LAGOS — The TA Gardens Residents Association (TAGRA) has disputed claims that a representative of the estate’s developer was held hostage during last week’s confrontation at the estate, insisting the incident stemmed from a disagreement at the estate gate and not an attack on the developer’s officials.

In a statement, the association said it was responding to what it described as misleading reports circulating online about the June 24 incident.

TAGRA also rejected allegations that it unlawfully took over the estate’s electricity management, saying the responsibility had been formally transferred to the residents’ association by the developer.

The association said the confrontation followed weeks of electricity outages and frustrations over power supply, adding that residents had contributed funds to purchase diesel and replace faulty equipment to keep electricity running.
