Ogumu hails Okowa at 67

The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Youth Mobilization, Mr Promise Ogumu has congratulated the immediate past Governor of Delta State , former Vice Presidential Candidate and APC Delta North Senatorial Candidate Sen Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON on the occasion of his 67th birthday anniversary.

In a goodwill message issued in Asaba on Friday, Mr. Ogumu described Sen Okowa as a transformational leader, patriot, and a father whose tenure redefined governance and development in Delta State.

The SSA noted that Sen Okowa’s 8 years as Governor were marked by purposeful leadership under the SMART Agenda, which delivered landmark projects in infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, and youth empowerment across the 25 Local Government Areas of the state.

“Your Excellency, at 67, we celebrate not just your age but a life of service, sacrifice and results. You came, you saw, and you built.

From the Stephen Keshi Stadium to the Central Secretariat, from the flood control projects to the tertiary institutions upgrade, your footprints are visible everywhere in Delta,” Ogumu stated.

He particularly commended the former Governor for his investment in Delta youths through flagship programs such as YAGEP, STEP, RYSA, and Girl-Entrepreneur programs which created thousands of jobs and empowered young Deltans to become employers of labor.

“Today, many of us standing strong as entrepreneurs, public servants, and community leaders are products of the opportunities you created.

You believed in Delta youths and you invested in us. For that, we remain eternally grateful,”he added.

Mr. Ogumu also acknowledged Sen. Okowa’s contributions at the national level as a two-time Senator, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, and as the Vice Presidential Candidate of the PDP in the 2023 General Elections.

“Your calmness, humility, and capacity for consultation have made you a statesman that Nigeria looks up to. Even out of office, your voice of reason and experience is still needed in our democracy,”he said.

The SSA on Youth Mobilization urged Delta youths to emulate the life of discipline, hard work, and service that Sen. Okowa represents.

“As we celebrate our leader today, let us recommit to peace, unity and productive engagement. That is the best birthday gift we can give to a man who gave his best to us,” Ogumu charged.

Concluding, Mr. Ogumu prayed for God’s continued blessings upon Sen. Okowa, his wife Dame Edith Okowa and the entire Okowa family.
