Dominican University, Ibadan, has celebrated its Pro-Chancellor and former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, CON, on his 65th birthday, describing him as an outstanding statesman whose transformational leadership and commitment to education have continued to inspire young Nigerians.

The university, in a goodwill message issued on Sunday by its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jacinta A. Opara, praised Obi for his unwavering dedication to quality education, youth empowerment, human capital development and national progress.

Opara said Obi’s passion for education had remained a defining feature of his public service and private engagements, adding that his consistent advocacy for educational excellence had reinforced the importance of learning as a tool for building a prosperous and inclusive society.

According to her, Obi’s words, actions and investments in human capital had continued to inspire hope and shape the aspirations of countless young Nigerians.
The university said Obi had, throughout his years in public service and other engagements, remained a steadfast advocate of educational advancement, making quality learning a central pillar of his vision for a renewed Nigeria.

It added that his support for education had contributed to the empowerment of young people, strengthened institutions and underscored the critical role of education in achieving sustainable national development.

Paying tribute to his role as Pro-Chancellor, Dominican University expressed appreciation for Obi’s visionary leadership, generosity and contributions to the growth and transformation of the institution.

The university said that under Obi’s guidance, it had continued to pursue academic excellence while remaining committed to its mission of producing morally upright and globally competitive graduates.

The statement read: “As a university founded a decade ago on the rich eight-hundred-year educational heritage of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans), we remain profoundly grateful for your visionary leadership, generous support, and invaluable contributions as our Pro-Chancellor.”
The institution further described Obi’s 65th birthday as an opportunity to celebrate a leader whose commitment to education, integrity and service had continued to leave an enduring mark on the nation.

Joining millions of admirers, associates and well-wishers across Nigeria and beyond, Dominican University prayed for God’s continued grace upon Obi as he continues to champion the causes of hope, human dignity, good governance and national development.

The university prayed for his sound health, greater wisdom, renewed strength and divine guidance in the years ahead.
