Mgbogo Foundation has presented cash awards to three outstanding students of Immaculate Comprehensive Secondary School, Enugu, in recognition of their exceptional performance in Mathematics.

The award presentation, which took place at the school premises in Enugu, was organised to promote academic excellence and encourage students to take their education more seriously.

The beneficiaries were Gabriella Nnamene, who received the first prize; Goodness Umeonye, who emerged second; and Chiamaka Sunday, who emerged as the third-place winner.

Speaking on behalf of the foundation, Nwanyelugo Paschal Abana said the award was instituted in honour of their uncle, father and grandfather, noting that the honour is aimed at promoting academic excellence among students.

According to him, the initiative was designed to encourage more young people to take their studies seriously and strive for outstanding academic results.

“We are encouraging more students in our community to take their academics seriously and come out with outstanding results,” Abana said.

“Our choice of Mathematics is because of the importance of the subject in education and its relevance to science, technology, innovation and national development.

“We believe that encouraging excellence in Mathematics will inspire students to develop a stronger interest in the subject, improve their academic performance and prepare themselves for greater opportunities in the future.”

Abana said the foundation considered education a critical tool for individual and community development, adding that recognising and rewarding outstanding students would promote healthy academic competition and motivate others to work harder.

He urged the beneficiaries to remain committed to their studies and see the awards as encouragement to sustain their excellent academic performance.

The foundation also encouraged other students to embrace hard work, discipline and dedication in their academic pursuits, noting that academic excellence could open doors to greater opportunities.

On their part, the award recipients expressed appreciation to the Mgbogo Foundation for recognising their efforts, noting that the award would motivate students to place greater value on academic achievement.
