Sujimoto Group, one of Nigeria’s leading luxury real estate and construction companies, has announced its entry into the agro-industrial sector with the launch of Sujimoto Foods, unveiling plans for a multi-million dollar food manufacturing operation aimed at strengthening food security and boosting local production.

The company disclosed that it has entered into a strategic partnership with China’s leading food machinery manufacturer, Cotco Food Machinery OEM, to establish a state-of-the-art food processing system capable of handling up to one million tonnes within its food value chain annually.
The announcement was made on Wednesday in Lagos, marking a significant diversification move for the company, which has built its reputation in the luxury real estate sector.

According to the company, the new venture is designed to address the food demands of Nigeria’s growing population of over 240 million people and the country’s estimated annual food consumption of about 330 million tonnes.

Speaking on the development, Group Managing Director of Sujimoto Group, Dr. Sijibomi Ogundele, said the company intends to replicate in the food sector the same standards of quality and excellence that have distinguished it in real estate development.

“Just as we have distinguished ourselves in the real estate sector through an unwavering commitment to quality and excellence, we intend to apply the same principles in food manufacturing,” he said.
He added that Sujimoto Foods would focus on building a comprehensive food manufacturing network capable of significantly enhancing food production and distribution across the country.

“Sujimoto Foods is embarking on the establishment of a state-of-the-art food manufacturing operation, including about 1,000,000 ton food value chain annually. Our goal is simple; to deliver high-quality food production to millions of Nigerians while contributing meaningfully to national food security, industrial growth, and economic development.
“We believe that the same dedication, professionalism and attention to detail that have made us successful in real estate will position us as a major force in Nigeria’s food industry,” he stated.

The company noted that the initiative is expected to improve food supply chains, increase access to quality food products and contribute to broader economic development through industrial expansion and job creation.
Despite its expansion into agro-processing, Sujimoto emphasized that premium real estate remains a core component of its business strategy.

The company said the diversification comes on the heels of the successful completion of Lucrezia by Sujimoto, described as one of Nigeria’s most prestigious luxury developments.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing projects, particularly LeonardBySujimoto, a proposed 60-storey luxury tower expected to redefine high-end residential living and architectural excellence on the continent.

According to the company, the landmark development represents its continued commitment to innovation and world-class infrastructure delivery.
Sujimoto Group further expressed appreciation to its clients, investors and business partners for their support over the years.

The management said the confidence reposed in the company by stakeholders has been instrumental in driving its growth and ambitious expansion plans across multiple sectors of the economy.
“The continued support and confidence of our clients and partners remain the primary fuel accelerating the company’s visionary expansion in both real estate and food manufacturing,” the company stated.

Industry observers say the move signals growing private sector interest in Nigeria’s agro-processing industry, which has increasingly been identified as a critical sector for enhancing food security, reducing imports and stimulating economic growth.
