Nigerian fintech Supacash adds shared savings goals feature

Saving money is nothing new in Nigeria, but Supacash believes the experience can become more powerful when people no longer have to do it alone.

The Nigerian fintech platform is introducing a social approach to goal-based savings through its Goals feature, allowing users to create personal savings targets while inviting friends, family and supporters to contribute towards them.

Supacash combines transfers, bill payments, giveaways, group wallets and social finance tools into one platform, but the Goals feature is emerging as one of its most relatable offerings. Instead of simply locking money away in a savings account, users can now turn their financial goals into shared journeys.

The feature is designed for a wide range of real-life situations. A student saving for tuition can receive support from friends and  relatives. A young entrepreneur can raise contributions towards a new business setup. Someone planning a wedding, relocation or gadget purchase can invite trusted people to support the journey directly within the app.

This creates a more emotional and community-driven saving experience compared to traditional finance apps.

To use the feature, a user simply creates a goal, sets a target amount and adds details about what they are saving for. They can then contribute personally while also sharing the goal with others who may choose to support financially. Users can track progress directly from the app as the goal grows over time.

According to Supacash Co-founder Overcomer Idemudia, the feature was inspired by how communities naturally support one another offline.

“In Africa, people rarely achieve things completely alone. Friends, family and communities often contribute towards important milestones. We wanted to build a product that reflects that reality digitally,” he said.

Supacash believes finance should feel more human, collaborative and encouraging, especially for younger users navigating major life goals.

As more Nigerians look for smarter ways to save and stay motivated financially, Supacash is offering a new alternative that transforms saving from a solo task into a shared experience.

Users can now download Supacash and start creating goals while receiving support from the people around them.
