UMUAHIA — The management of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging a planned invasion of the institution by suspected hoodlums.

In a statement issued by the Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Mr. Anyaso Anyaso, the university said investigations by its security unit and relevant law enforcement agencies found no evidence to support the claim.

The institution expressed concern that the report could cause unnecessary anxiety among students, staff, parents and members of the public.

According to the statement, security arrangements on campus remain operational, with the university continuing to work with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to safeguard lives and property.

The management noted that routine security measures, including patrols and monitoring activities, are ongoing as part of its standard safety procedures.

It urged students and staff to remain calm and continue their academic and administrative activities as scheduled.

The university also advised members of the public to verify information through official channels before sharing it, warning that the spread of unverified reports could create confusion and unnecessary concern.

MOUAU encouraged stakeholders to rely on information issued through its Public Relations Unit, official website and verified social media platforms.

Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment, the management thanked students, staff and other stakeholders for their cooperation and support.
