Veteran actress Liz Benson Ameye and actress-reality TV star, Bisola Aiyeola have led the cast of a forthcoming Nollywood drama inspired by the biblical story of Ruth and Naomi.

Titled Remi & Nneoma, the drama will open in cinemas nationwide on June 26, 2026. Set in Ikwerre, Rivers State, the film follows the lives of two women brought together by tragedy and the challenges that follow.

Veteran actress Liz Benson Ameye stars as Nneoma, while Bisola Aiyeola plays Remi, her daughter-in-law. Following a shared loss, the pair navigate grief, societal expectations and the realities of widowhood, forming a deeper bond as they rebuild their lives. As the story unfolds, Remi encounters a new romantic relationship that offers hope for a fresh start.

The film also features Uche Montana, Ifeanyi Kalu, Tina Mba, Kelechi Udegbe, Eucharia Anunobi and Buchi Franklin.

Directed by Lyndsey Efejuku, the production was led by actress and producer Bikiya Graham-Douglas, with executive production by Solate Ovundah-Akarolo. The screenplay was written by Priye Diri and Adelarin Awotedu, with music supervision by Kalinè, whose previous credits include the acclaimed Nigerian films Breath of Life and After 30.

Bikiya who also stars in the movie stated that the film aims to portray women making autonomous choices in difficult circumstances. “This is a story about rewriting the rules. About women who decide to choose their own path, even when it’s hard.”

On her part, ,Solate revealed that the project is a personal journey, which she anticipates will resonate with audiences, particularly women. “It’s a deeply personal journey. But it’s also one that so many people, especially women will relate to. The pain, the decisions, the quiet strength. It’s all very real.”
