
Governor Oborevwori
Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori haa been called to prioritise the welfare of citizens above partisan politics.
The call was contained in a statement issued by the President of Delta State Comrade Community, Comrade Akpotoboro Oghenemaro.
While acknowledging the achievements recorded by the Oborevwori’s administration particularly in the area of infrastructure development for the past three years, Comrade Community, an assembly of past students leaders across Delta tertiary institutions. said Delta State still expect greater attention to critical issues directly affecting their daily lives and economic well-being.
The group took a swipe at the governor’s recent public assertion that his number one priority was the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu saying such priority was misplaced and unexpected in the present crucial period of Nigeria.
“The welfare, security and overall development of Deltans should be the primary focus of your administration in the remaining years of your tenure.
“We urge you to pay greater attention to the energy sector and economic development of the state. Many communities across Delta State still lack reliable electricity in spite of the vast opportunities in renewable energy, gas-based industrialization, local content development, job creation and energy innovation which remain untapped.
“Delta State is richly blessed with abundant energy resources which need to be translated into improving living standards, economic prosperity, environmental protection, employment opportunities and shared prosperity for all Deltans rather than prioritising the personal gains of partisan politicking” the group declared and added that “citizens are capable of making independent democratic decisions in the forth coming 2027 general elections and their votes will be earned through assessment of good governance, effective leadership and tangible improvement on the quality of their lives.”
