The Director General of Advocates for Bola Ahmed Tinubu (A4BAT), Dr. Okoye Tochukwu Nobert, and the organisation’s Secretary, Hon. Yemi Ijaodoro, have expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation across Nigeria, calling on federal and state governments to intensify efforts to safeguard lives and property.
In a joint statement issued on Thursday, the A4BAT leaders condemned the increasing incidents of killings, kidnappings, armed robberies, banditry, communal clashes, and other violent crimes affecting various parts of the country.
They noted that while security challenges are not unique to Nigeria, the frequency and severity of attacks in many communities have become alarming and require urgent, coordinated action from all levels of government.
According to the group, no meaningful development can take place in an environment where citizens live in fear and businesses operate under constant threat.
“Every Nigerian deserves to live, work, and pursue their aspirations in safety and dignity. The protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government, and all relevant authorities must rise to this obligation with renewed commitment,” the statement said.
Dr. Nobert and Hon. Ijaodoro urged security agencies to strengthen intelligence gathering, improve inter-agency collaboration, and ensure prompt responses to security threats before they escalate into major crises.
They also called on state governments to complement federal security efforts by investing in community policing initiatives, supporting local intelligence networks, and addressing socio-economic factors that often contribute to criminal activities.
The A4BAT leaders emphasized that insecurity has continued to affect farming activities, commercial operations, education, and investments in many parts of the country, thereby slowing economic growth and worsening hardship among citizens.
While reaffirming their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and ongoing efforts by the administration to strengthen national security, they stressed that more decisive measures are needed to restore public confidence and guarantee the safety of all Nigerians.
They further appealed to traditional rulers, religious leaders, community stakeholders, and civil society organisations to work closely with security agencies by providing credible information capable of preventing criminal activities.
“The fight against insecurity requires collective responsibility. Government must lead decisively, security agencies must act professionally, and citizens must cooperate by remaining vigilant and law-abiding,” they stated.
The group expressed solidarity with victims of violent attacks across the country and extended condolences to families who have lost loved ones to insecurity.
A4BAT concluded by urging both federal and state governments to treat security as an urgent national priority, insisting that Nigerians deserve a safer and more secure environment in which to live and prosper.
