ABUJA- AS wet season food production commences, an agribusiness firm, Santuscom Agro Investment Company Limited and Santuscom Fertiliser, weekend, launched Santuscom Organo-Mineral Fertiliser to farmers and the agric ecosystem.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Chief Ofana Paul Santus, while speaking at the official in Okuku, Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, the product will help farmers’ productivity as its application will boost soil fertility towards massive crop yields and profitability.
Santus told farmers present at the launch that the initiative to come up with the fertiliser is basically to address the challenges of poor harvests and declining soil fertility faced by many farmers; hence, enormous research by fertiliser experts was made to manufacture the product for the balanced nutrition crops need, and also boost soil health and fertility for sustainable agricultural production.
According to him, the fertiliser combines the benefits of organic and mineral nutrients, making it an effective solution for farmers seeking higher productivity and improved crop quality, making crops climate-resilient, and also helping farmers reduce production costs over time by improving nutrient retention in the soil and reducing the need for excessive fertiliser application.
Agricultural experts also asserted that the use of organo-mineral fertilisers has lower risks to the socil, plant health and human consumption of food from it compared to conventional synthetic fertilisers, as industry reports indicate that global demand for organo-mineral fertilisers continues to grow as farmers increasingly adopt sustainable agricultural practices.
Market analysts estimate that the global organo-mineral fertiliser market, valued at approximately $1.62 billion in 2024, is expected to reach $2.08 billion by 2032, driven by rising demand for improved agricultural productivity, environmentally friendly farming solutions and enhanced food security.
Meanwhile, stakeholders in the agricultural sector at the launch commended Santuscom Agro Investment Company Limited for investing in agricultural innovation and expressed optimism that the new fertiliser would contribute significantly to increased food production and economic growth within Cross River State and beyond.
