LAGOS — Chemical and Allied Products Plc, CAP Plc, has expanded its Dulux product portfolio with the launch of Spruce, a new mid-tier paint brand designed to meet the growing demand for affordable, durable and quality paint solutions in Nigeria.
The unveiling, held during a media and partner parley in Lagos, brought together stakeholders from across the construction and housing value chain, including architects, interior designers, real estate developers, trade partners, influencers, and representatives of government agencies and professional bodies.
Speaking at the launch, Managing Director of CAP Plc, Mrs. Bolarin Okunowo, said the introduction of Spruce was a strategic response to changing consumer preferences and the increasing demand for value-driven products in the mid-tier segment of the market.
According to her, consumers are becoming more intentional about value while still seeking quality, durability and aesthetics in products used to enhance their living spaces.
“Spruce was developed to meet that need by offering a solution that combines performance, affordability and style, while remaining backed by the trusted Dulux heritage,” she said.
She added that the launch reflects CAP Plc’s commitment to broadening access to quality paint products and ensuring that more Nigerians can transform their homes and business spaces with confidence.
Okunowo noted that the new brand leverages the over six-decade legacy of Dulux in Nigeria, while extending the company’s reach to a wider segment of consumers.
Designed for aspirational and value-conscious customers, Spruce offers strong coverage, durability and modern finishes, making it suitable for homeowners, developers, painters and contractors seeking dependable quality at a more affordable price point.
Also speaking, Head of Corporate Services at CAP Plc, Mrs. Aramide Nwokediuko, described the launch as a significant step in the company’s growth strategy and its efforts to remain competitive in Nigeria’s evolving paints and coatings market.
She said: “The launch of Spruce reflects CAP Plc’s continued commitment to innovation, accessibility and consumer responsiveness. By expanding the Dulux portfolio into the mid-tier segment, we are creating stronger value for consumers while equipping our trade partners with a more competitive offering tailored to today’s market realities.”
Available in four variants — Acrylic Satin, Emulsion, Textured and Gloss — Spruce comes in a palette of 100 standard colours alongside 10 culturally inspired campaign colours, including Idan Black, Steeze White, Old Money Green, Odogwu Red, Ajebo Yellow, IJBG Orange, Sarki Brown, Soft Life Blue, Baddie Pink and Shakara Purple.
The launch also featured the introduction of the brand’s “Show Your True Colours” campaign, a consumer-focused initiative aimed at promoting individuality, self-expression and the emotional connection people have with their living spaces.
According to the company, the campaign is inspired by a younger generation redefining modern lifestyles and views colour as an extension of identity and personality.
CAP Plc, a leading paints and coatings company in Nigeria, has remained a major player in the industry for more than 65 years through continuous innovation, quality products and strategic partnerships.
With the introduction of Spruce, the company said it is further strengthening its presence across premium, mid-tier and standard market segments while responding to the evolving needs of consumers and industry stakeholders.
