The Ebonyi State chapter of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed reports suggesting a leadership crisis within the party, insisting that its state executive remains united and committed to strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Saturday, members of the State Working Committee (SWC) rejected allegations made in a recent video and media reports claiming that a vote of no confidence had been passed on the State Chairman, Prince Enyinnia Alum Udensi, and the State Organising Secretary.
The party described the claims as unfounded and said they did not reflect the position of the state leadership.
According to the statement, the allegations were capable of creating a misleading impression about the state of affairs within the party.
“We wish to state categorically that the allegations of hijack, compromise and manipulation levelled against the State Chairman, the State Organising Secretary and other stakeholders of the party are baseless and do not represent the position of the State Working Committee,” the statement said.
The leadership maintained that the party remained focused on promoting unity, internal democracy and organisational growth across Ebonyi State.
The statement also defended the role of former Governor Sam Egwu, describing him as a respected political leader whose contributions to the development of the state and democratic governance remain widely acknowledged.
“Senator Sam Egwu remains a respected political leader whose antecedents and contributions to Ebonyi State and democratic governance are well known,” the party said.
The SWC further expressed confidence in the leadership of Prince Udensi, commending his efforts in steering the party through its developmental stage in the state.
The party urged members to channel grievances through established internal mechanisms rather than public confrontations, stressing the need for constructive engagement in resolving differences.
While acknowledging that members have a right to express their opinions, the leadership called for responsible conduct that would not undermine the party’s collective objectives.
“The leadership of the party remains committed to peace, unity, reconciliation and the advancement of the NDC in Ebonyi State,” the statement added.
The party appealed to members and supporters to remain calm and continue supporting its leadership as it works to strengthen party structures across the state.
It reiterated that the NDC’s focus remains on building a strong platform capable of achieving electoral success in future elections.
“The NDC is bigger than any individual ambition or grievance. Members should continue to place the collective interest of the party above personal considerations,” the statement said.
