Saidu
…Says old Tinubu loyalists are grumbling
By Jimitota Onoyume
Arewa leader in the South Alhaji Musa Saidu has said that the City Boys movement of Seyi Tinubu is allegedly displacing the All Progressives Congress, APC, across several states, warning that if not checked it could reduce the votes for President Bola Tinubu in next year’s presidential polls .
Saidu made the observation in a chat with Vanguard, saying leaders of the APC were already getting frustrated in several states as the City Boys movement which should ordinarily be a support group within the party was enjoying better funding.
He recalled that in some states in the south City Boys gave out cows, rams ,rice and even cash to the Muslim communities but the party could not do much because of limited funds. He said the situation was demoralizing some party leaders.
Continuing, he said senior loyalists of president Tinubu who mobilized massively for him to be elected in his first term were among those expressing frustration, adding the president should ensure they are not ignored. ” They should enjoy financial attention the same way City boys are doing since the party seems not to have adequate financial capacity to take care of them “, he said.
“Everybody knows I am a supporter of Mr President. I have worked for him. The organisation created by the son of Mr President is dislodging old loyalists of Mr President. The City Boys are still trying to gain ground in many of the states; this is why some of the members failed at the last primaries. So old loyalists of Mr President who cannot join the Boys should not be ignored.
“The Seyi Tinubu led City boys group is weakening the APC in the states because they are getting the funds while the parties are struggling financially.
“The last Salah it was through the City Boys that they got to the people . The City Boys gave out cows which were sold, rams , rice but the party couldn’t do much. Some old supporters of the president are feeling demoralized already .
” Mr President should check this. Because this development is frustrating his old loyalists . Some have even left the party to places where they felt they could be respected.
“Some who left said many of the leaders in the City Boys are people they cannot relate with on account of age . Mr President should treat this issue seriously”, he pleaded.
