President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described veteran journalist and media professional, Idowu Ajanaku, as a distinguished voice in Nigeria’s media landscape who has contributed significantly to journalism and national development.

In a goodwill message on Ajanaku’s 60th birthday, Tinubu commended his decades-long career in reporting, editing, and public communication.

He noted Ajanaku’s role in shaping public discourse and promoting accountability through the media.

The President highlighted the importance of responsible journalism in strengthening democracy, stressing that the media remains vital in informing citizens, holding leaders accountable, and fostering national unity. He urged media practitioners to uphold ethical standards.

Tinubu wished the celebrant good health, long life, and continued impact in the media industry, expressing confidence that his experience would inspire younger journalists.

Similarly, Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adesuyan, described Ajanaku’s 60th birthday as a remarkable milestone worthy of gratitude to God.

Aiyedatiwa said Ajanaku, who serves as Commissioner for Information and Orientation, has distinguished himself as a seasoned communications professional and committed public servant.

He noted that Ajanaku has strengthened the state’s information management and deepened government-citizen engagement through strategic communication.

The governor also praised Ajanaku’s commitment to the progressive cause in Ondo State, wishing him good health, wisdom, and many more years of service.

Elder statesman and former APC Interim National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, eulogized Ajanaku for his integrity.

In his message, the former Osun State Governor said Ajanaku has used journalism to shape and help people, serving with dignity.

Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, recalled Ajanaku’s fearless role during the NADECO era at The Guardian newspaper, particularly in the struggle to actualize the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election. Fayemi also praised his reporting during the legal battle to reclaim the progressive mandate in Ekiti.

Afenifere and NADECO chieftain, Chief Ayo Opadokun, commended Ajanaku’s lifelong bravery and commitment to the progressive path.

APC-USA National Leader, Dele Alade, recalled their joint involvement in Egbe Omo Yoruba conferences in Atlanta and Texas, where Ajanaku used his media expertise to promote the progressive struggle.

Alade noted that Ajanaku was part of the delegation that represented Tinubu at the 2014 inauguration of the APC-USA chapter in Virginia, alongside Senator Ajayi Boroffice.
