The Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Hon. Philip Agbese, has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for what he described as extraordinary achievements in the face of financial and operational challenges, following the recent rescue of 360 abductees by troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State.

Agbese, who represents Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State, said the successful operation in the Mandara Mountains, a notorious insurgent enclave in southern Borno, demonstrates the resilience, professionalism and determination of the military in the fight against terrorism and insurgency.

In a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, the Labour Party lawmaker praised the Armed Forces for continuing to record significant successes despite limited resources.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria have continued to demonstrate exceptional courage and professionalism under very difficult circumstances. Despite financial limitations and operational challenges, our troops have remained focused on protecting the nation and defending innocent citizens,” Agbese said.

He described the rescue of the abductees as one of the most significant military operations in recent times.

“The recent rescue of 360 abductees from the Mandara Mountains is one of the most significant operations recorded in recent times. It speaks volumes about the dedication of our military personnel and the effectiveness of the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign,” he stated.

Agbese particularly commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, for what he called strategic leadership that has continued to produce positive results across various military operations in the country.

According to the lawmaker, the successful operation further demonstrates the determination of the security forces to restore peace and stability despite the complex security challenges confronting the nation.

He noted that troops operating in difficult terrains across the North-East and other regions deserve greater public support and appreciation for the sacrifices they make in the line of duty.

Agbese also attributed recent gains against insurgents and other criminal groups to improved intelligence gathering, enhanced coordination among security agencies and the commitment of frontline personnel.

The lawmaker praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustaining support for the military and providing the political backing necessary to strengthen national security operations.

He reserved special commendation for General Oluyede, describing him as a disciplined and result-oriented military leader.

“General Oluyede has shown remarkable leadership at a critical period in our nation’s security journey. The results being recorded across various theatres of operation are a testament to his commitment, professionalism and dedication to national service,” he said.

Agbese urged Nigerians to continue supporting the Armed Forces through cooperation and information sharing, stressing that national security remains a collective responsibility.

He expressed optimism that with sustained support, improved funding and stronger collaboration among security agencies, the military would record even greater successes in the fight against insurgency, banditry and other forms of criminality across the country.
