Adeleke to receive defectors as re-election campaign begins

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, is expected to welcome defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) into the Accord Party on Tuesday as part of activities marking the commencement of his re-election campaign.

The event is scheduled to hold at Freedom Park, Osogbo, and is expected to feature endorsements of the governor’s re-election bid by various groups and associations.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Imole Campaign Council Media Committee, Bamidele Salam, a former Secretary to the Osun State Government during the administration of Rauf Aregbesola, Alhaji Mashood Adeoti, is expected to lead a large number of ADC members into the Accord Party.

According to the statement, many of the defectors are former political appointees and party members who served during the administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

The statement also said that the Chairman of the APC Elders Forum in Boripe Local Government Area, Alhaji Kareem Afolabi, is expected to lead more than 1,000 supporters from Osun Central Senatorial District into the Accord Party.

The event is expected to formally signal the start of political activities surrounding Governor Adeleke’s re-election campaign ahead of the next governorship election in the state.
