The former British plus Commonwealth Light Heavyweight boxing champion, now Minister of God, Peter Oboh, has said calls for the United Kingdom, UK’s Prime Minister, Keir Starmer to resign were mistimed.
According to Oboh, the UK needs a bold and experienced leadership, which Starmer represents, at this time.
Recall that Starmer has been under immense pressure to resign, following the scandal over his decision to appoint, and then sack, Peter Mandelson as ambassador to the US.
Mandelson was a former friend of Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender.
Also, Labour suffered disastrous local election results last week, losing hundreds of councillors to the hard-right Reform UK party and left-wing populist Greens.
However, Starmer has been adamant, saying “The country expects us to get on with governing. That is what I am doing and what we must do as a cabinet.”
Peter Oboh is standing by the embattled Prime Minister, saying: “The United Kingdom needs a very bold and experienced leader, and majority of the British people knows Keir Starmer has such qualities.
“The truth is what is the assurance the next prime minister, if Starmer happens to step down, will be bold enough to say no to a war partnership with a powerful country like the United States of America?
“The good news, to me, is that Starmer is saying, wisely, he will not resign.
“The truth is Keir Starmer is the best for the UK now, with these regular war issues left, right and centre.
“Some old British war partners like the United States are angry with Keir Starmer for not getting involved like old times. Do you know Keir Starmer is among the few, if not the first, British prime minister to be bold enough to say no to a President of the United States of America?
“That means Starmer’s mindset is British first, not America. We really need a leader like Starmer that stood his ground for peace for his beloved UK, and not to getting involved in the Middle East war issues with the nation of Iran.
“To be realistic, to me, if war breaks out, I am not sure I can be bold enough to pull the trigger on someone via war. The truth is, I have evolved from a figher to a lover.
“The gospel truth is many British leaders in the past were not brave enough to say no to a supper power like the United States of America. The Americans are not used to accepting no for an answer.
“My big question is, where is the old British diplomatic wisdom that made Britain number one Kingdom many years ago?
“The old British wisdom is not to be moved by emotions first, but to first observe, then apply diplomacy for peace to reign before taking action if necessary. That is the opposite of the American style of action.
“America is action first, dialogue second, before peace agreement. I must not keep quiet and see my beloved country, the Great Britain, about to make one of the biggest errors in politics by asking Keir Starmer to resign, specially at a time an experienced and very wise and bold leader is highly needed in the United Kingdom.
“The United Kingdom must know this, it is a lot better in the Britain than many European countries. We all must note this, these are hard times and seasons all over the world.
“Change takes time for it to manifest fully. The prime minister needs more time. My advice is Starmer must be left alone for now, so he can do the good job that he promised to do,” Peter Oboh admonished.
