The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State on Saturday conducted its presidential primary election across the 23 local government areas of the state, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerging overwhelmingly victorious in the exercise described by party officials as peaceful, transparent and credible.

The Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, who also served as the Chief Returning Officer for the presidential primary election in the state, announced the collated results at the APC state secretariat in Sokoto.

Addressing party delegates, election officials, security agencies and stakeholders during the collation exercise, the governor said the conduct of the primary reflected the APC’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency and adherence to constitutional procedures.

“It is my pleasure to warmly welcome you all to this important stage of our democratic process,” the governor declared.

“Today’s exercise is not merely a routine political activity, but a clear testament to our party’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency and the rule of law.
Voting was conducted peacefully across the 23 local government areas, and we are here to openly collate and verify the will of our party members,” he added.

Governor Ahmad Aliyu explained that results submitted from the various local government areas would subsequently be forwarded to the party’s national headquarters for final ratification and official declaration.

He commended electoral officials, security personnel, party executives and observers for ensuring a smooth and orderly exercise throughout the state.

During the presentation of results, returning officers from different local governments announced overwhelming votes in favour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while other contestant scored zero vote.

In Binji Local Government Area, the collation officer disclosed that out of 9,748 registered APC members, 8,250 votes were cast, all in favour of President Tinubu.
Similarly, in Rabah Local Government Area, officials announced that Tinubu secured 7,801 votes from the 11 wards, while the second contestant, identified as Stanley Osita, scored zero votes.

Tambuwal Local Government also delivered a landslide for the president, with Tinubu polling 11,370 votes, while his challenger failed to secure any vote.

Results presented from other local government areas equally showed massive support for the president, with some councils recording thousands of votes solely in favour of Tinubu.

At the end of the collation, Governor Ahmad Aliyu formally declared that President Tinubu won the Sokoto APC presidential primary election with a commanding total of 301000 votes across the state.
“One other contestant scored zero votes in all the local governments, while the overwhelming majority of party delegates reaffirmed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the governor stated.

Party leaders at the event described the outcome as a reflection of the confidence reposed in the president by APC members in Sokoto State ahead of the 2027 general election.

The exercise was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and accredited party observers.
