The District Governor of Rotary International District 9112 a non governmental organization , Mr Lanre Adedoyin, has unveiled plans for its annual district conference scheduled to hold on June 30, 2026.

Speaking during a press conference at the Rotary Centre in Lagos on the theme, ‘Elevate Discon 2026’, Adedoyin said the annual gathering would provide an avenue for Rotary clubs across Lagos and Ogun states to showcase community development projects and assess their impact on society.

He described Rotary clubs as the heartbeat of the global organisation, noting that humanitarian projects and community interventions were driven through the clubs.

He explained that Rotary year ends on June 30, adding that clubs had remained active since July 1 in executing projects in areas including clean water supply, environmental sustainability, maternal and child health, literacy, peacebuilding, sanitation and economic empowerment.

Adedoyin said Rotary, as a service organisation, had continued to implement impactful projects in communities through its network of clubs, stressing that leadership remained one of the organisation’s core values.

He explained that the district, which covers Lagos and Ogun states, currently has about 90 clubs executing projects in different communities.

He further stated that clubs would feature a “House of Friendship,” where they would display projects executed, partnerships formed with government and other organisations, as well as the outcomes of their activities. The conference will feature welcome activities, plenary sessions, stewardship presentations, awards, networking events and a gala night.

He said: “The conference is a time for us to review our scorecard, look at what we have achieved and assess the impact we have made. Rotary is a service organisation and our motto is Service Above Self. Before the district conference, we have already started implementing impactful service projects in our various communities.

“We believe we can add more value to how a district conference should be organised. We want people, especially members of the press and the public, to see Rotary as an organisation committed to projects that positively affect society.

“We are working to improve the standard of the annual gathering and make it more engaging, innovative and productive for participants and guests.

“Rotarians are people of action and problem solvers. As leaders, we must be adaptable, innovative and resilient in addressing challenges. We do not give up; we always seek ways to make things work. The outcome of our efforts should speak for us wherever we are not present.”

In his remarks, the chairman of Rotary Club, Mr Segun Adewakun, explained that beyond fellowship and networking, the conference is said to showcase Rotary’s immense contributions to humanity through impactful projects in healthcare, education, youth empowerment, economic development, peace building, maternal and child health, water and sanitation as well as environmental sustainability.

“As chairman of Elevate Discon 2026, I can confidently state that enormous resources, planning, logistics and coordination have gone into preparing for what promises to be one of the most remarkable district conferences in the history of Rotary International District 911″, Adewakun said.

The four days conference is expected to host several notable speakers, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who will serve as keynote speaker.

Also expected at the event is Rotary International President, Francesco Arezzo, who will be represented by Past District Governor, Stella Dongo.
