Hon. Fakayode Afolabi Kasali has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress, APC, direct primary election for the Kajola State Constituency seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly after polling the highest number of votes across the 11 wards in Kajola Local Government Area.
Results from the official collation sheet obtained by journalists showed that Kasali secured 2,622 votes to defeat other aspirants in the keenly contested exercise.
The incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Azeez Musibau, came second with 1,613 votes, while Hon. Tairu Muibi polled 258 votes. Dr. Gbolasere E. Abigail garnered 83 votes.
Other aspirants in the contest, including Dr. Dayo Olarewaju, Hon. Simeon Adejumo and Hon. Tijani Sakiru, recorded no votes.
A total of 4,576 valid votes were recorded during the primary election conducted across the local government area.
Declaring the results, the Returning Officer for Kajola Local Government, Engr. Gbadamosi Adeoye, announced Kasali as winner of the primary, having scored the highest number of lawful votes cast.
The declaration was witnessed by a representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Owonikoko Semiu, alongside the designated security officer, Onidele Iseyin.
With the victory, Kasali becomes the APC candidate for the Kajola State Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
