Yayi
…Backs Tinubu’s re-election
By Henry Ojelu
A political pressure group in Ogun State, Yayi Progressives Movement, YPM, has donated N1billion and unveiled 27 branded campaign buses to bolster the 2027 governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
The group also declared its readiness to mobilise voters for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, vowing to deliver the highest votes for the APC in the South-West.
The donation and unveiling took place during the official inauguration of the group at the Ake Palace Pavilion in Abeokuta, where its Convener, Armstrong Akintunde, said the funds and buses would be deployed for campaign logistics and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls.
Akintunde, who also inaugurated the state executive of the group led by a member of the House of Assembly, Olusegun Kaka, said Ogun was strategically positioned to play a decisive role in the 2027 elections.
He said: “This is not about an individual; it is about securing the future of Ogun State. Senator Solomon Adeola represents competence, continuity and a proven track record. Our support is rooted in our belief in his capacity to lead the state to greater heights.”
The convener dismissed the impact of emerging opposition coalitions, insisting that they would not derail the re-election of President Tinubu or the victory of the APC governorship candidate in Ogun State.
“Our leader has given us a clear directive. Come 2027, Ogun State will deliver the highest number of votes in the entire South-West. With the collaboration of party leaders, this task has been made easier,” he said.
Akintunde commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for what he described as impactful leadership, particularly in infrastructure development and the sustenance of peace across the state.
“We appreciate the achievements of the present administration. Our support for Senator Adeola is to ensure continuity and consolidation of these gains,” he added.
Tracing the evolution of the movement, Akintunde noted that YPM had grown through different phases, reflecting resilience and unity of purpose among its members.
“Today marks a significant milestone in our political journey. From DACA to Omoluabi and now YPM, we have remained consistent in our commitment to mobilising the people of Ogun State towards achieving electoral victories for our party,” he stated.
In his remarks, the State Coordinator, Olusegun Kaka, described the inauguration as a demonstration of the group’s collective resolve to pursue progress, unity and a shared vision for the state.
He urged members to remain steadfast and intensify mobilisation efforts across communities.
“We must stay focused, strengthen our unity and continue to work tirelessly for the advancement of our people and the development of Ogun State,” Kaka said.
Dignitaries at the event included former Deputy Governor, Senator Adegbenga Kaka; Senator Gbenga Obadara; Senator Iyabo Anisulowo; Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu; Engr. Ade Akinsanya; Chief Waliu Taiwo; Kehinde Odeneye; and businessman, Ibrahim Egungbohun, among others.
