NDDC deploys drones, AI others to boost corporate communications

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has commenced training of its staff members in Artificial Intelligence, drone operations, and digital content production.

The Commission said the trainings targeted at personnel in the Corporate Affairs and Protocol Departments, were in a move to strengthen its corporate communications and new media output.

Speaking, Oluwatimilehin Bada, Assistant Director in the Office of the Executive Director, Corporate Services, who represented the Executive Director, Ifedayo Abegunde, said the initiative reflects the Commission’s commitment to innovation and improved public engagement.

Bada thanked the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, NDDC, Samuel Ogbuku Ph.D, for prioritising the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance the Commission’s corporate communications strategy.

He said the training, themed “Promoting Innovative Media: Integrating AI Knowledge, Drone Piloting and Content Creation.” is designed to equip corporate affairs personnel with modern skills required to effectively project the activities of the Commission.

Baba said: “We recognised that technologically empowered media is a vital partner in achieving sustainable development. We are enhancing professional competence while promoting greater transparency, accountability, and public engagement.

“We must appreciate the ingenuity and commitment of the MD/CEO, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku. By harnessing innovative technologies, we will be able to tell our story better and communicate more effectively.

Also speaking, Emmanuel Udonte, Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs Department, said the relevance if of artificial intelligence in global communication,m cannot be ignored, stating that the Commission is investing in it, meaningfully.

Udonte said: “The world is going digital, and artificial intelligence cannot be ignored. At NDDC, we believe it is here to stay and will shape the future. This training is to ensure our staff are well informed and prepared.

However, Head of the New Media Unit and Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, Selina Dan-Albert, said the training empower staff members to manage information in a fast-paced digital environment.

Dan-Albert said: “We are the brand bearers of NDDC, so we must gather and disseminate information as quickly and effectively as possible. That is why this training is essential”.
