ABUJA — The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has showered praises on the Department of State Services ,DSS, and its Director-General, Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, for what it described as the successful security coordination that ensured a peaceful, credible, and historic 2026 National Convention of the students’ body.

In a statement issued in Abuja, NANS President, Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez,  said the convention’s smooth and hitch-free conduct was made possible by the “exceptional professionalism, vigilance, and strategic operational excellence” displayed by the DSS.

The students’ body described the convention as a defining moment in the history of NANS, noting that the security agency played a critical role in preserving order, protecting lives, and guaranteeing a stable atmosphere throughout the exercise.

“As the largest Black students’ movement in the world and the umbrella body unifying student structures within and outside Nigeria, the successful culmination of the convention would have been virtually unattainable without the robust security architecture deployed by the DSS,” the statement said.

NANS specifically commended the DSS Director-General, Mr. Ajayi, for his “strategic leadership, patriotic resolve, and unwavering commitment” toward the success of the convention and the credibility of the electoral process.

The association expressed confidence in the ability of the DSS leadership to continue safeguarding national security and democratic stability in the country.

“Without equivocation, we hold steadfast confidence in your exceptional capacity and distinguished competence not only in ensuring a peaceful, free, fair, and credible NANS electoral process, but also in sustaining the broader mandate of safeguarding the territorial integrity and sovereign stability of Nigeria,” the statement added.

The students’ body also applauded DSS operatives deployed during the convention for their discipline, vigilance, and coordinated operations, saying their efforts contributed immensely to the peaceful outcome of the gathering.

NANS further pledged to sustain collaboration with the DSS in promoting constructive national engagement, student security, and institutional stability across the country.

The association described the convention as “historic” and hailed the DSS for what it termed an “immeasurable sacrifice and invaluable intervention” throughout the transition process.
