In Wuruola area of Surulere, Medical Safe Charity Foundation, FinLogic, Apex Network, E Finance, Topnotch Brands and Communications, BPAYEX, The Power of a Girl Child Foundation were on ground with medical outreach, food items for the residents of the area.

In a media chat, the Chairman, Medical Safe Charity Foundation, Irozuru Chukwuemeka said, “We are here for medical outreach to reach out to the less privileged and make healthcare affordable to all; so that early detection can actually save lives, rather than allow it linger for long time.

Chukwuemeka said, “today, we’re able to test people on HIV, test diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Low Blood Pressure. Many people only know about high blood pressure, but they don’t know what it takes to actually have a low blood pressure. So, we believe that if all these things are detected early, and medication is actually given out to them by the appropriate authorities, they will be able to actually live longer”.

“Again, we encourage people to eat before taking drugs, that is why we brought enough food items as part of the programme, we don’t just give them medication, we also feed them. It’s a two in one programme. So, we brought them packs of food, all packed well, so that it will last them up to two weeks”.

Chukwuemeka said further that “the exercise is not one off, we’ll keep checking them once in a while especially those with chronic issues like sugar, hypertension, etc”.

In addition, the Chief Executive Officer, Medical Safe Charity Foundation, Stella-Maris Onuoha said, “We are here kicking off our initiative, one community at a time, to reach out to low-income communities, to give them basic healthcare, testing, and also to assist with some healthy food packages. So, at Medical Safe, some of our strategic pillars are ensuring that we are creating public awareness on basic diseases, especially to create knowledge on their lifestyle management, to empower communities, to provide technological solutions to health issues”.

“So those are the things we are doing, one community at a time initiative, is to try to reach as many communities as we can across Nigeria. So it’s a good thing we are starting at Wuruola, because our Executive Chairman and Founder grew up here, and coming from such a community you understand the pains of the people, and that’s why we are here”.

Onuoha said, “the essence of the exercise is that people should ensure that they are very intentional about their health, that they should be intentional about their lifestyle, because that’s where it actually starts from. They should be careful about what they eat, and basic exercise does not actually kill the body, it actually helps”.
