Mazzy Beauty CEO celebrates continental award win

Nigerian entrepreneur based in South Africa, Mrs. Amaka Uzoamaka, founder and CEO of Mazzy Hair and Beauty Cosmetics, is celebrating another major milestone after being recognized as one of the Outstanding CEOs of 2025 by Scream Media Africa, organizers of the prestigious Scream All Youth Awards.

The recognition highlights her consistency, resilience, and impact in the beauty industry across Africa. The award also celebrates the remarkable growth of Mazzy Hair and Beauty Cosmetics, a brand that has evolved from a single beauty salon into a respected multi beauty brand with influence stretching beyond South Africa.

Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Amaka Uzoamaka holds a diploma in Beauty Therapy and Management and has steadily built a name for herself through dedication, professionalism and quality service delivery.

Sharing her inspiring journey, the entrepreneur revealed that she started out in Nigeria as a small-scale fashion designer before relocating to South Africa with her husband in 2008 after their marriage in 2006. Upon arriving in South Africa, she worked in another salon for a few years, learning the business and sharpening her skills before eventually becoming an employer of labour and launching her own successful brand.

She credited her husband as one of the major pillars behind the growth of Mazzy Hair and Beauty Cosmetics.

Over the years, the brand has continued to earn recognition and accolades within the beauty industry. Some of her notable achievements include winning the Scream Awards Best Beauty Brand in Africa in 2020, Outstanding Beauty Products Award in 2021, serving as a sponsor for Mrs Soweto 2024, and now receiving the Scream Recognition Award 2026 as one of the Outstanding CEOs of 2025.

One of the company’s biggest achievements in recent years was the expansion into Nigeria with the opening of Mazzy Hair and Cosmetics Nigeria in 2023, a project she described as highly significant to the brand’s growth journey.

Speaking on what keeps her motivated, she simply said, “God inspires me.”

Reflecting on challenges faced while building the business, she admitted that branding was difficult in the early stages, but persistence and consistency helped the company overcome those obstacles and excel.

To young entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners looking up to her, she offered simple but powerful advice: “Start now, build on the way.”

She also encouraged professionals in the beauty industry to embrace sincerity and professionalism.

“Every beauty brand should stick to services and products they can confidently render and there should be love for one another even as we grow,” she said.

With years of hard work, expansion, and recognition behind her, Amaka Uzoamaka continues to position Mazzy Hair and Beauty Cosmetics as one of the notable African beauty brands making impact across borders
