Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna’s emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Gombe State has been described as a reflection of the people’s aspirations.

The Director-General of the Gombe Geographic Information System, Dr. Kabiru Usman Hassan, stated this while reacting to the outcome of the party’s consensus process.

According to him, the decision followed extensive consultations led by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, involving aspirants and key stakeholders such as religious leaders, traditional rulers, business figures, party executives, and grassroots mobilisers.

Hassan said the process was designed to accommodate diverse views and ensure broad acceptance across the state.

“Ultimately, the choice of Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna is being framed not merely as a political decision, but as a reflection of the aspirations of the good people of Gombe State,” he said.

He added that Gwamna’s emergence represents a blend of experience, character, and public trust, noting that his background in both public and private sectors, as well as his philanthropic activities, have strengthened his grassroots appeal.

Hassan also highlighted Gwamna’s personal qualities, including simplicity, humility, and inclusiveness, describing them as critical to maintaining social harmony in the state.

He noted that the consensus process has raised expectations for governance, with many anticipating a leadership style anchored on stakeholder engagement, transparency, and accountability.

“The consensus has generated optimism across the state, with indications of broad acceptance among party members and the public,” he said.

Hassan further stated that the development would allow the APC to focus on policy articulation and voter engagement ahead of the 2027 elections, with key issues such as youth employment, agriculture, infrastructure, and social welfare expected to shape the political discourse.
