Sengerlie Edouard, professionally known as Shamana Ed, is quickly becoming one of the most influential Haitian-American entrepreneurs on social media. Through her authenticity, resilience, and business leadership, she has built a growing international audience while inspiring thousands of aspiring entrepreneurs across the Haitian diaspora and beyond.
Originally from Haiti, Sengerlie immigrated to the United States at the age of 14 with dreams of building a better future. Like many immigrants, her transition was far from easy. She faced financial hardships, cultural adaptation challenges, and periods of instability while trying to create opportunities for herself and her family. Despite those obstacles, she remained determined to succeed academically and professionally.
She graduated with honors from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn and later earned a degree in Social Work with a minor in Psychology from Medgar Evers College. Her dedication to discipline and public service eventually led her to a career with the New York Police Department, where she proudly served as an NYPD officer.
While law enforcement gave her stability and leadership experience, Sengerlie always envisioned something greater for herself. During the global pandemic and the rise of digital entrepreneurship, she recognized an opportunity to empower her community through ecommerce, online business education, and product distribution.
In 2020, she launched Shamapromo LLC, initially as a digital marketing and remote-work education platform helping Haitians access online opportunities. What started as a small initiative rapidly expanded into a fast-growing entrepreneurial ecosystem that now includes wellness products, wholesale distribution, baby products, household essentials, and ecommerce mentorship.
Today, Shamapromo products are distributed through TikTok Shop, Amazon, Walmart Marketplace, and independent ecommerce stores. Her business portfolio includes baby diapers, sanitary products, toilet paper, wellness supplements, and wholesale consumer goods serving both retail and wholesale buyers.
Known online as Shamana Ed, she has built a strong social media presence by combining entrepreneurship advice with motivational storytelling and practical business education. Her TikTok videos regularly generate tens of thousands—and sometimes hundreds of thousands—of views from audiences inspired by her transparency and determination.
One of the defining aspects of her success is her mentorship program. Through coaching and business training, she teaches aspiring entrepreneurs how to launch online stores, source inventory, navigate logistics, and build scalable ecommerce brands. Many of her students are immigrant entrepreneurs, single mothers, and first-generation business owners looking for financial independence.
In addition to building Shamapromo, Sengerlie has also helped expand BAM, a growing consumer brand developed alongside her husband. The company is becoming increasingly recognized within Haitian business communities for its expansion into food and consumer products.
For Sengerlie, entrepreneurship is not just about generating revenue—it is about changing lives.
“My mission is to show people that where you start in life does not define where you can go,” she says. “If I can go from hardship to building businesses that impact thousands of people, anyone willing to stay disciplined and focused can create success too.”
Looking ahead, Sengerlie plans to expand internationally, launch an ecommerce academy, and continue building educational platforms that help underserved communities access entrepreneurship opportunities.
Her journey from NYPD officer to successful entrepreneur stands as a powerful example of resilience, ambition, and transformation in the digital age.
